Onto The Isle of Skye

Saturday's schedule entailed a nice leisurely drive westwards to the Isle of Skye.  We chose to make it a circle route - take the bridge on it's east side over, and the ferry at the south end back on Tuesday.  This way we wouldn't have to backtrack (heaven forbid!) and gave us a chance to drive by Eilean Donan castle which many call the 'most photographed castle in Scotland'.  It's been used in lots of movies such as "Entrapment" and "The World is Not Enough" so it was cool to see it in person.

To continue our entertainment theme, we carried on to the little seaside village of Plockton for lunch.  BBC used the town as the setting for Loch Dubh, home of MC Beaton's series of Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries. We disagreed with our guide's calling it the prettiest seaside town in the Highlands, but perhaps if the sun was shining....  A nice warm bowl of soup cheered us up a little and then it was on to Skye!

  1. You're right to disagree about 'prettiest town' etc. In fact, the Highlands have little in the way of good architecture. But Plockton is OK.

Glad the rain seems to have stopped!
